Dojo Types

1. Certified Dojo Member

“Certified Dojo Member” is defined as any Aikido Dojo with Dojo-Cho who requests membership and has been granted authentic DAN ranking under Larry Reynosa Shihan, and has been nominated, accepted and approved by the Board as a Certified Member due to extraordinary circumstances and experience. The following are ranking opportunities:

  • Dojo-Cho authorized to nominate students for DAN ranking within Corporation under Larry Reynosa Shihan.

  • SHODAN may rank up to and including Sankyu.

  • NIDAN may rank up to and including Nikyu.

  • SANDAN may rank up to and including Ikkyu.

  • All DAN ranks will be granted by Larry Reynosa Shihan via Examination or recommendation.

  • Kyu ranks will be granted by Dojo-Cho to members of the Corporation.

In addition, a Certified Member must meet the following conditions for continued membership in the Corporation:  

  • Membership fees must be paid directly to the Corporation prior to membership expiration date which is defined as the Dojo’s original membership enrollment date.
  • Dojo-Cho must attend at least one DAN Examination event per year.

Other benefits of being a Certified Member are:

  • Dojo-Cho will receive an “Individual Association Membership” and subscription to “Aikido Vision” at no additional fee.

  • Dojo will be issued an official “Certificate of Membership”.

2. Associate Dojo Member

“Associate Dojo Member” shall be defined as Aikido Dojo with a Dojo-Cho who requests membership and has not been granted authentic DAN rank under Larry Reynosa Shihan, and has the intention of embracing and supporting his teachings. The following are ranking opportunities:

  • Opportunity to convert DAN rank for Dojo-Cho to the same level under Larry Reynosa Shihan and to qualify for “Certified Dojo Membership”.

  • Kyu ranks will be made available through examination events involving “Association Dojo-Cho”.
